Tour description and schedule
The Pre-Vestnorden tour around Reykjavík – Reykjavík and Beyond – Between Lava and Saga – encompasses few of the great attractions of the city as well as taking you to the Blue Lagoon.
September 28
- 10:00 – Pick-up: All participants will be picked up from their hotels or designated pickup points and brought to Hotel Reykjavík Saga in the centre of Reykjavík. Participants arriving early can head directly to the hotel.
- 11:00 – Check-in: Upon arrival at Hotel Reykjavik Saga.
- 11:30-12:45 – Lunch at Apótekið: Enjoy an early lunch in the centre of Reykjavík at Apótekið, a renowned restaurant offering
delightful Icelandic cuisine. - 12:45 – Walk to Harpa Concert Hall: Experience the stunning architecture of Harpa as you approach for the next event.
- 13:00-13:15 – Volcano Express at Harpa: Witness the thrill of a volcanic eruption through the interactive Volcano Express show.
- 13:30 – Transfer to Lava Show: A bus will take the group to the Lava Show, where melted lava flows into the exhibition room.
- 14:00-15:00 – Lava Show: Enjoy a complimentary drink while experiencing the wonders of live flowing lava.
- 15:00 – Travel to Blue Lagoon: Visit Reykjavík and Visit Reykjanes collaborate to guide guests to the Blue Lagoon. Learn about the recent volcanic activity in the area and explore new geological formations with guidance from Visit Reykjanes.
- 18:00 – Return to Reykjavík: The bus will transport the group back to town.
- 19:00 – Dinner at Fjörukráin: Indulge in a Viking themed meal at the lively Fjörukráin restaurant, featuring music, laughter, and
Viking surprises. - 20:30 – Northern Lights Viewing: If skies allow the bus will head to Aurora Basecamp, close to the restaurant, to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
- 21:30 – Return to Hotel Reykjavik Saga: The bus will return everyone to the hotel for a restful night.
September 29
- 9:00-9.30 – Checkout at Hotel Reykjavik Saga: Luggage will be brought to the bus as all participants will check in at the Reykjavík Airport for the flight to Akureyri later in the day.
- 9:30-10.30 – FlyOver Iceland Tour: Kickstart your day with an exhilarating virtual flight experience over Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes.
- 10:30-12:30 – Visit Perlan Museum: Explore the wonders of Icelandic nature and innovation at the Perlan Museum.
- 12:30-13:45 – Lunch at Jómfrúin Restaurant: Enjoy Danish themed smørrebrød at this charming eatery.
- 13:45-14:30 – Afternoon – World of Words Exhibition: Delve into Iceland’s literary heritage with this unique exhibition.
- 14.30 – Transfer to Reykjavík Domestic Airport: The bus will take all participants to the domestic airport for the flight to Akureyri, marking the end of the Reykjavík tour.
What to wear
Just regular clothing. For the Blue Lagoon gests will need bathing suits. Towels will be provided by the Blue Lagoon.
