Tour description and schedule
Embark on an unforgettable two-day journey through the stunning landscapes of East and North Iceland. Your adventure begins with a flight from Reykjavík to Egilsstaðir, where you will visit the Reindeer Park to observe these majestic animals up close. After a brief stop at a local supermarket, you’ll head to Snæfellsstofa, the visitor centre for Vatnajökull National Park, to learn about the park’s unique geology and wildlife.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at Skriðuklaustur, a historical site featuring a charming restaurant, before venturing into the picturesque East Iceland Highlands. Discover the serene beauty of Sanddalur Valley and take in the breathtaking views of Mt. Snæfell, the tallest mountain in Iceland, outside of glaciers. Next is Laugarfell, a unique accommodation surrounded by the raw beauty of the East Iceland Highlands, before returning to Egilsstaðir for dinner and a soothing experience at Vök Baths and an overnight stay.
If conditions are favourable, you may also embark on a northern light tour to witness this mesmerizing natural phenomenon.
On the second day, we head north, and visit the stunning Stuðlagil Canyon, known for its dramatic basalt columns and stunning color contrasts. After exploring the canyon, you will enjoy a tasty lunch at HAK Bistro before driving to Ytra Lón Farm and Retreat. At Ytra Lón, you’ll learn about sustainable farming practices and hear fascinating stories from locals living near the Arctic Circle.
Visit the charming Grásteinn Guesthouse, then enjoy a scenic drive along the beautiful coastline to Raufarhöfn. Here, you can explore the Arctic Henge, a unique monument inspired by Norse mythology, and tour the Gilhagi Woolmill, a family-run sheep and goat farm. Dine at Veggur Restaurant near Ásbyrgi National Park, where you can savour local cuisine, before concluding your tour with a drive to Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland.
Throughout this journey, guests can expect to experience Iceland’s natural beauty and cultural richness, from relaxing in geothermal baths and enjoying local cuisine to marvelling at dramatic landscapes and the northern lights.
