After being equipped with a warm safety overall and life jacket, step aboard a modern RIB speedboat and head into the beautiful surroundings of Skjálfandi Bay. Your specialized guide will begin with a safety briefing, followed by live commentary on the sights and wildlife encountered throughout the tour.

With the high speed, your boat can get faster around and the chances increase of encountering some of the bigger whales. The adventure continues to Flatey Island, the paradise of Skjálfandi Bay. Enjoy a short guided walk to discover the island’s beautiful spots. You will then be treated to a delicious local seafood soup in Smiðjan, the new environmentally friendly building on the island.

Gentle Giants has strong family roots to Flatey Island and offers all kinds of private tours to the island for individuals and groups, basic or luxury high-end.After soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and fresh ocean air, board the RIB speedboat for your return to Húsavík. Your day concludes with a scenic bus ride back to Akureyri, with scheduled arrival around 18:00.

Practical Information
The tour on RIB speedboats is not allowed for passengers with heart- or back problems or pregnant women. Minimum age is 8 years and minimum height 130 cm. On the RIB speedboat you will get obligatory warm safety overalls before your tour but it is highly recommended to bring own warm and waterproof clothes, footwear and protective bags for cameras as it can be cold and wet out at sea. The boat tour is dependent on weather and sea conditions. For your safety and comfort, we reserve the right to change the tour itinerary, even with short notice, should weather or other conditions change. In such case, alternative options are offered in Húsavík.
