Stunning day tour along the west coast
The Snæfellsnes peninsula in the West of Iceland is almost like a miniature version of the whole country. In addition to its characteristic Snæfellsjökull glacier, you will find white and black sandy beaches, bird cliffs, spectacular mountains and volcanic craters, incredibly rich trout lakes and salmon rivers, lush valleys and unique harbours in charming fishing villages.

The stunning landscape of the peninsula has captured the imagination of people all over the world, ever since Jules Verne wrote the famous science fiction novel “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” but the journey begins at Snæfellsjökull glacier.

West Iceland in Lonely Planet’s top ten regions for 2016
West Iceland has been included in this list due to it having the perfect combination of stunning landscapes, unique regional culture and friendly locals. It is also easily accessible for visitors due to its proximity to Reykjavik and a robust year round road network.

Tour description and schedule
The tour takes you on foot around the heart of Reykjavík with an english speaking local and a history graduate, Marteinn, Eiríkur, Sara, Jóhannes, Tómas or Þórdís. The main focus is the general history of Iceland and the evolution of Reykjavík as a town. You will also hear about elves, vikings, food, nightlife, music, economic aspects and political affairs.

Finally there are the funny facts about Iceland and the places you must see in Reykjavík. The tour is laid out in an informative and comic way, where there is also room for personal questions. We meet up in a grassy green park, named Austurvöllur in front of the House of Parliament (Alþingi), in the main square.

Famous sites covered on this tour: Parliament building, The Concert Hall Harpa, Hallgrímskirkja, lake Tjörnin and the City Hall. Along with plenty of non-touristy sites which you will not find online! Our guests are encouraged to visit Hallgrímskirkja and Harpa on their own before or after the tour, as we won’t have time to visit those during the walk.

Due to long distances, we cannot cover these attractions on this walk: Sun Voyager, Old harbour, Höfði House, The Pearl, The Botanical Garden.

Tour description
Scattered around the world there are 130 Unesco Global Geoparks. Geoparks are areas of great interest in terms of geology, culture, science and research and also boast of extraordinary landscape features. Reykjanes UNESCO Global Geopark is a truly outstanding geological territory with an enormous geodiversity and several geosites of international recognition. Nowhere else in the world are you able to see where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge rises above sea level and view the area where the two continents drift apart.

The landscapes of Reykjanes Geopark bare witness of these amazing forces of the tectonic plates drifting apart and offers a great opportunity for outdoor soft adventures. With more than 240 kilometres of hiking trails spread throughout the peninsula, visitors can choose to wander along the rugged coastline, in geothermal highlands or moon-like lava landscape.

On the Reykjanes tour you will get to know some of the natural highlights of the Reykjanes region and additionally experience a small taste of the local culture through visits to a few exhibitions and through them get to know how society on the peninsula has coped with nature and how it has shaped the culture and traditions in the area.

Description u0026amp; Schedule
This tour takes you to the Westfjords of Iceland, a magnificent area with its steep cliffs, deep fjords, high mountains and white sandy beaches. Not to mention the Northern Lights in the winter, which are the brightest in Iceland and have guided the fishermen for centuries in times of winter darkness, together with the bright shining moonlight. You will certainly experience a unique adventure. You will be taken on a surprising adventure on a 4×4 Super-Jeep.

Rauðasandur is one of the most spectacular sites of Iceland, surrounded by magnificent landscape; red coloured sand in beautiful settings of black cliffs and the blue Atlantic Ocean. Our local guide will take you by a tractor carriage to a seal colony where harbour seals are often seen at a close range. More than 100 seals take advantage of the sun and sand at Rauðasandur, sunbathing and resting on the beach. In early summer, seal-mothers lie on the sand with their young. Later in the summer, you can watch as the pups take their first steps to adulthood.

The stillness and pristine beauty of Rauðasandur is one of Iceland’s best kept secrets.

A short drive to Patreksfjörður with some nice stops on the way. In Patreksfjörður we will find your accommodation and invite you to a two course dinner at the restaurant Fjall og Fjara in Fosshótel. In the evening we will take you to a relaxing and comfortable geothermal spring. The Icelandic tradition of bathing in a hot geothermal springs is a local natural wonder.

After having breakfast the great waterfall Dynjandi, awaits you. Dynjandi is the largest waterfall in the Westfjords, about 100 meters high and up to 60 meters wide. A hiking path leads up to the central gorge of the waterfall, allowing visitors to come close enough to touch the water as it tumbles down into the depths. You will get a time to enjoy the amazing energy of the area and explore the waterfall on your own.

Despite the isolation the nearby village Bíldudalur is vivid, with a high level of cultural life such as The Sea Monster Museum, witch demonstrates tales of sea monsters that played a colorful role in Icelandic folk culture for centuries. After a visit to the Sea Monster Museum we will head straight to the airport of Bíldudalur for a 35 minutes flight back to Reykjavík.

Description u0026amp; Schedule
Experiencing the Westfjords first hand is important to understand what it is all about – as there is something magical about it. The region could arguably be labelled “Iceland’s best kept secret”, for the isolation has preserved it in a relatively unspoiled wilderness, making it a must-see for any nature loving explorers.

On our 2 days tour we will give you a taste from the local cuisine, step back into the Viking ages, sail around the largest fjord of Iceland were chances of spotting a seal are good. We will drive to the highest point of a mountain, visit a tropical garden in Heydalur, learn about sorcery and get to know some creative locals.

You will fly from Reykjavik to Ísafjordur late morning on the 30th of September and spend the night in the area before traveling by bus to Akureyri the next day. We will make sure to use the time along the way to Akureyri to visit interesting sites.

We will be arriving late in the evening in Akureyri.

  • Hospitality in family owned Hotels and travel service
  • Highland and Fjords

September 30
Morning flight from Reykjavík towards Egilsstaðir where we hope you will have View over our Glaciers and Highland. Pick up from the Airport towards late Breakfast at Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir. After breakfast we will drive into Fljótsdalur Valley and Visit The Wilderness center and take a short walk through their area and museum. On our way back we will look for the Monster of Lagarfljót river and visit the Forest in Hallormsstaður. The next stop will be the Eco farm of Vallarnes where we can catch some material for the evening dinner and also taste some local food from their ground. We take the drive towards Borgarfjörður where we will stay in Álfheimar (the home of the Elves) Country hotel.  Visit to the local SPA with hot tubs and Sauna to relax before the evening dinner. We will after dinner look for Northern lights in the Sky and ask the elves to help us to be lucky.

October 1
After a breakfast buffet we will take a “city” walk in the small village of Bakkagerði and get to know a little more about the local living, elves, history and culture. On our way back the road 94 we will visit the Canyon of Hvannagil and enjoy the View from Vatnskarð mountain road. Before we reach Egilsstaðir again we will take a detour to the charming culture village of Seyðisfjörður and enjoy the hospitality of Hótel Aldan who will bring us something special for lunch. After little touch of Seyðisfjörður we will enjoy their waterfalls on our way back over Fjarðarheiði mountain road and head towards Akureyri for the Evening check in. On our way we will stop and look around and get some refreshments and the Highland of the North East will get your mind to think about the moon so we could practice a little the moonwalk before we visit the nature bath of Mývatn for a short wellness and comfort. Description and schedule
This tour takes you from the rugged eastern fjords of Iceland deep into the unbridled highlands of Austurland.

The tour starts at the airport in Egilsstaðir. There your guide and driver will greet you and your journey begins. First, we head to the beautiful fjords of East Iceland. In Eskifjörður you will meet a local guide that will walk you through the village and introduce you to its history and culture. The Village Walk ends at Randulffs Seahouse where history is at your fingertips. There you will enjoy lunch.

From the fjords, we head into the highlands. Your next stop is Laugarfell which offers beautiful accommodations in the heart of the highlands of Austurland. There you will enjoy dinner and spend the night. At Laugarfell you will find two natural warm pools so make sure to pack your bathing suit and towel. On the second day, we will visit canyon of Hafrahvammagljúfur.  Far from the beaten path, Hafrahvammagljúfur is a jewel too few travelers ever behold.

After crossing the highlands, we head to Akureyri with a short stop at Mývatn on the way. We arrive in Akureyri in the afternoon.

Welcome to the Faroe Islands
Faroe Islands in a rental car is the most popular selling package we have.

8 days incl. flight, hotel and rental car.
On this tour we will do it on 3 days and introduce you to some of the most popular places in the package.

The road network on the Faroe Islands is very well developed, and it is easy to get around; 80% of the islands are connected by bridges and tunnels. Every visitor should plan their stay here with the weather in focus, as the weather can be change completely – it all depends on what island you are on.

Only you and the weather set the pace on this trip.

The Faroe Islands is an experience of a lifetime; the islands have a unique nature, a rich history and a rich culture. The ever changing weather with rain, mist, heat and sunshine provides a breathtaking natural beauty, and gives it stunning colors.

Day 1

After less than 2 hour flight with our national airline, Atlantic Airways, you will arrive in the Faroe Islands.
The car which on this tour will be a bus will pick you up at the airport.

Our first stop will be in Bø and Gásadalur.
You will see the famous waterfall Múlafossur and enjoy the view over Tindhólmur and Mykines.

After Gásadalur we will go for a walk to Bøsdalafoss – a nice and easy walk (approx. 3 hours). Here we will enjoy a lunch bag under open sky and enjoy the spectacular view.
From Vágar we will go to Eysturoy via Streymoy, where you will find Gjáargarður, and where you will spend your first night.
On your way to Gjógv you will pass through the first underwater tunnel in the Faroe Islands. On the way to Gjógv you will make a stop at the local farmer in Saksun and have cup of coffee.
You will pass Eiði, where you will have a spectacular view over the rock formations “the Giant and the Bitch”, just off the north top of Eysturoy.

“Nátturði” (dinner) will be at Gjáargarður.

Gjáargarður is a 3 star hotel with 26 rooms and a cosy restaurant.

Day 2
Todays excursions are located on the northern islands; first you will be heading to Viðareiði, the northernmost islands of the Faroes. Here you will see the second highest promontory in Europe “Enniberg“.
After Viðareiði you’ll drive by the dam to Kunoy, where you can have a walk through the idyllic plantation.
Lunch will be at Café Fríða in Klaksvík.
After lunch the bus will take you to Tórshavn and you will check in at Hotel Føroyar for your last night.

Dinner will be at Katrina Christiansen in Tórshavn.

Hotel Føroyar is a 4 star hotel with 120 rooms, a restaurant, fitness room and a lobby bar.

Day 3
After breakfast you will go for a city tour in Tórshavn. You will pass the Faroese parliament, the old part of Tórshavn “Á Reyni” and the old fort “Skansin”.

The bus will pick us up and take us to Kirkjubø where we will visit the old cultural centre,
Sct. Magnus Cathedral and the oldest wooden house in Europa “Roykstovan”.
Back in Tórshavn we will have lunch at one of the local restaurants and you will have free time to stroll in the world smallest capital.

Your last night you will spend in the airport hotel – Hotal Vágar and dinner will be at the small and cozy retro café – Café Fjørðoy which is located only 5 minutes away from the ferry to Mykines.

Hotel Vágar is a 3 star hotel with 25 rooms and a ala carte restaurant.
